I have been pondering the idea of Jailbreaking my phone but I was hoping to get some more insight on the positives of doing it. I know that you get numerous wallpapers, themes, and NES games but could someone please provide some more examples of applications? Thanks

You can download youtube movies ::::: Mxtube
You can download free music directly to your phone: Dtunes or soulseek(mew seek in cydia)

you can run 3rd party applications in the background : backgrounder

You can get appstore apps for free : Appshare and installous

the ability to completly customize your phone: winterboard

you can have a video recorder: cycorder

you can change your carrier to what ever you like: Makeitmine

you can have key vibration: Keyvib

you can change your boot logo to whatever you like : Logome

you can have on your lock screen missed calls emails text : status notifier

you can put apps in folders by catagories: Catagories

you can put a lock on whatever app you want so if anyone tries to get into it they will have to have a password:::: Lockdown

thoes are some of the things i have and love on mine

There's also the general good feeling that YOU, not Apple, have control over the device you paid good money for. And there are always new and better things on the horizon from the Jailbreak community.

You can disable the "Apple Kill Switch."

You can have battery life display as a percentage.

You can tether your laptop.

You can scrobble to Last.fm over the air. :D

To dude/chick that's thinking about JBing, you really don't have anything to lose. You may experience some slowdown if you get into trying new themes out with Winterboard or with applications like Stacks but all and all jailbreaking greatly improves the functionality of that powerful device in your pocket. Also, QuickGold is an amazing application that I would recommend (allows you to search apps, contacts, safari pages, etc with one touch of the home button)

I'm just afraid 'old Apple is going to brick JB phones in the next 6 mo. and I don't want the headache. :cool:

No worries. Even if they could do that, it would require a software update, which you will have to initiate.

Just don't run any iTunes or iPhone updates until you see someone post whether it's safe or not.

Yea Confuzed is right, just keep up to date with the rest of the community and you should be fine.
