So why do you dislike it? I don't like the series so far but I'm interested to see how it fares compared to the first, especially from someone who dislikes the second (rather like me and the Halo series :p).

Looks better, controls tighter (though still rather loosey goosey with the sticking to cover) and has bigger badder guns. Other than that, it's the same game. If you liked the first one I fail to see how you can HATE this one. Maybe you prefer the first one, but Epic certainly didn't break Gears 2.

Just too much chainsaw is going on and agreed that the shotgun sucks badly and needs a patch. I was in this game and every single kill throughout the game was CHAINSAW. SUCKS! Plus matchmaking is horrible where you sit down waiting for ages till u get into the game.

I think people need to realize that this is a different game. This isn't Gears 1 with with some new modes and maps. In Gears 1 the shotgun basically owned everything. No tactics were used you just ran in and started hip firing. In Gears 2 the gameplay, in my opinion, is more tactical. You need to work with your team in order for a victory. Use proximity mines, don't rush people when they are shooting you with the lancer, use body shields and so on.

I see Gears 2 as a new game, and as with any new game there is a learning curve. We'll all get the hang of it eventually.

That said, I think the chainsaw does need to be toned down. You need to be vulnerable when you rev it up. As of now, people are just rushing you with it and sometimes even shooting them doesn't make them lower it. Hopefully that is fixed soon.

Well Gears 2 is the same game as one so if you liked the original gears then I don't see how you can't like this one.

I guess everyone is entitle to their own opinion but In the future...explain why you think its trash and people won't give you much grief.

Ive always hated GOW matchmaking, I LOVED the storyline.

I heard the online multiplayer sucks bacon bits but I'm not interested in multiplayer....just horde and single player.

I still haven't open up the game but I might give it a go tonight...If I can cram my fingers away from SOCRACK: Confrontation.

Some weapons imbalance is a weak reason to say a game stinks. What else?

I'm inclined to agree with the OP, this isn't a very good game. It's certainly not good enough to justify the sales it gets.

For one, the story is terrible and it's filled with dull, lifeless characters who are too similar to each other to be interesting at all.

The weapons are poor - I loved the weapons in UT, why can't Epic be creative and come up with stuff like that instead of machine gun after machine gun and the odd shotgun?

The artwork on the whole is pretty poor. Yes, there are some pretty high poly models in there and some nice visual effects, but for whatever reason (disc budget or just poor work) the textures are awful. Get close to any wall and you'll see what I mean. It's a blurry mess.

The environments are boring and bland - brown room after brown room after brown room. All of the characters are brown too.

Well if we are going to compare...Why not making every single game from now on like Halo 1? I can play hours of any other game and have fun, but in playing a single game of Halo 1 all the other games seem far less polished and not nearly as much fun. Just wish Halo 1 had online play :/

When i played GoW1 i disliked it b/c I was use to like easier killing. It would take less shots to kill in like cod or halo.

When gow2 came out I thought it was the greatest. Now after playing it, even after the patch, matchmaking is ridiculous and shotgun/chainsaw is not balanced really.

If you have chainsaw out, the person gets shotgun and pwns u. Then if you have shotgun u get chain sawed, seems like you can never win.

Also the host has alot of benefits. Everyone once was lagged in game, can shoot unlimitedly but can't move. It was King of the Hill and the host had over 70 kills everyone else was 0 except for 1 lucky guy lol.

It was fun b4 but when u play over time, it gets ridiculous.

Well I beat it last night. Turns out I was under 10 minutes from the end of the game and just didn't know it. Silly me. I think people here are expecting something much different than they should be. It's supposed to be bland brown colours with ugly bald space marines, it's the Gears (Epic's) thing. Complaining about that is like complaining there are too many effeminate pretty boys in a Final Fantasy game.

Honestly, they took the first game then added MORE of it in a more refined way (looks better, more action, different environments, more gore, etc.) and put it out. Why would they change it? You should know what you are getting into you by this point.

actually they balanced the weapon lol. first GOW, everyone rushed in with shotgun. you can lay down some pretty accurate fire with lancer and the guy will just roll towards you and blast your head off. they weakened the shotgun for a good reason.

Gears of War 2 is not trash, nor is it even mili-feet (?) next to it.

Gears of War 2 has one of the best campaigns I've ever played, and I have beat it on every difficulty (yes including recruit) and I have gotten Seriously 2.0 (100,000 kills.)

The only thing that is mediocre about it is the online play.

I hate everything about online play, which is the only reason I play CoD4 on 360 and PS3.

i agree with the op i played the Killzone 2 Demo today even though the demo is short wow this game is the greatest fps ive played it blows gears and halo heck even resistance out of the water. and cant wait for the full game.;)
