How to turn OFF data download from Cellular Carrier (i.e. only use WIFI but not Edge)

How to turn OFF data download from Cellular Carrier (i.e. only use WIFI but not Edge)? Is there a way to do that?? Because I am on a prepay plan, don't want to incur unnecessary data charges. Can someone answer? Thanks!

Go Settings, Airplane Mode. That kill it all. Then simply turn Wireless back on. Everything else stays off.

i think that he wants to still be able to receive calls. you can jailbreak your phone and install boss prefs

ATT can block data on your account, but they probably wont unless you have your sim in another phone when you call them.
