I sold my 3G iPhone ($500) on Friday and mailed it via UPS the same day. It was delivered to the buyer on Monday and because he wasn't home, it was returned to the post office. The buyer still hasn't picked it up according to the tracking. What will happen if it is returned back to me?

First, try contacting the buyer. If it's ultimately returned, it's up to you & the buyer to determine if they want it re-shipped or a refund.

It won't return to you unless the buyer refuses to accept the package. After the 3 attempts, UPS will hold it at the nearest UPS hub near his/her house. They have to go there and pick it up themselves. but, before that the driver will try at the same time for 3 days straight.

It's at the Post Office.

I should add that PayPal has a hold on my money also. This is why this is not good at all.

Well buyer can just ask for their money back via Paypal and they'll prolly neg you and blame you for it.

You then obviously lose out as you paid the postage charge and you dont really have any grounds to seek your refund on your auction fees with eBay.

Yes eBay is for the buyer only, they dont give 2 hoots for sellers no more. Would recommend you type the following "contact user request" in the help bar and follow thru to get your buyers details and their telephone number and phone them.

People tend not to be keyboard warriors once they get a phone call. I'm a powerseller BTW.

I'll give the buyer a call in the morning.

I don't care about negative rep, it's the first and only time I have sold anything on eBay.

Problem solved. For some reason, the USPS site wouldn't update when I refreshed the tracking page. This morning I checked the tracking and it was updated, the phone was delivered to the buyer on Tuesday.

Paypal will release my money probably today or tomorrow since the hold is released after three days of delivery.

You mean: Paypal will hopefully release my money probably today or tomorrow since the hold is released after three days of delivery.

They will. I called Paypal directly and the guy I spoke with confirmed.

This is a good reason to use USPS with signature & delivery confirmation.

And that is exactly what I did. It just took the USPS website a few days to update. If it was updated more frequently, this thread never would have happened.

I just got the notice saying my funds have been released! I hate when Paypal puts holds on my money. It's people that try to cheat others that make honest sellers have to put up with this bs.
