TITLE SAYS IT ALL!!

This might be old new for some but if you check out the info page for the game they've got a note (which for some reason isn't reflected on their website).

1.1 was submitted to Apple on the 11th of November. So it could be any day now!

I doubt that it was submitted to the app store on the 11th. If it was, it would have been live by now, unless it was rejected. apple seems to have gotten their update process much more efficient now.

if you read what they post on the app store for their app, they say that the update "WILL" be posted on the 11th.........not that it "was" posted. Huge difference.

Dam, I guess I was so excited about hearing any update news I misread it.

That's what you get for skimming. :D

Download it and enjoy it!

New map is tricky, only just started it. Check the app notes for more release info.

Update is amazing, but I don't like how after the 100th round, all that comes out are Mech robots.

Okay, so I beat Crossroads on easy but...it didn't save my score.

Hopefully it's only a first run bug, but the new map is pretty cool, now you have a mixture of 2 runners, and if you concentrate all your firepower in the middle of the field, then chances are a tank/blimp can be cannonfodder for other runners to get away.

Is there any way to disable the sound in the game without turning it down?

I was hoping for at least one new tower - maybe something slotting between the missles and laser.

Regardless, still one heck of a game.

^ Thanks - I always forget about that settings area.

Now, next question....what the heck do you need to stop the robot things? I have yet to destroy one of them.

Which robot things are you talking about? In original ? or the new ones?

Generally a few lightning towers will do the job. You need to make a good 'path' that lengthens their trip to the exit too.

agreed. Good amount of them at the start always helps.

It does get repetitive, quite repetitive, but I guess it make it easier for the developer to balance each wave (ie making each one harder).

Anywho, I'm running easy classic on endless to see where you just can't stop them anymore. When it comes to it I will be using the 'infinite loop' 'cheat'.

I lost 2 lives because I was playing this in bed and I fell asleep :D

the same thing happened to me on the same level.....

The Crossroads is far more interesting and lots of fun.
A variety of units and variety of entrance/exits really complicate things and new strategies are encouraged. They have really raised the bar again!

However, I have experienced unexpected crashes while on the new map and normally I would be fine with it... but when you realize the data isn't saved after spending many many minutes on the map... it's not very pleasant.

I noticed they have also added Fieldrunners settings in the iPhone settings which lets you configure the sound volume among other things. One thing that I really liked was the Grid feature. It is incredibly helpful and you would waste less time trying to position your towers.

The upgrade makes this game a true 5 star.
They still got a lot of things they can throw at us, but in the meantime it's no doubt one of the best games yet.

I love crossroads, that's what I'm used to on desktop defense. That being said, I'm not really excited about this one. I'm waiting for the next one. In the crossroads, they rarely come at the same time from both ways, which defeats the purpose of my maze that I'm used to doing. And also, I misinterpreted 'endless' to my dismay... I thought it meant they just keep coming and coming until you lose all your lives. Oh well...
The update makes it better, just not by very much for me.

This was on easy. Lets just say I had a lot of spare time and patience, and I wanted to see how far endless really was. Needless to say, I wanted to get on with the game, and promptly gave up after round 275.

Notes: since it was on easy, you can hold them back without using the endless loop 'cheat' until about round 210 (iirc) then I ran out of room to put towers more effectively. The developer seemed made it so that (on my layout), that adding each tower and upgrades with the available money meant that the last robot always fell roughly in the same spot.

And yes, each wave takes about 5 minutes to kill. So multitask while playing this game...and play with the charger in.

Loved the update.

The second map brings a lot more variety and fun.
Looking forward to 1.2 now :)

Those of you waiting I highly doubt that you would be disappoint with this release. Pull the trigger like the rest of us :) you won't regret it!

Fieldrunners 1.1.1 Released!

Endless mode isn't limited to only big tough mech robots!

Can anyone tell me if installing this update deletes your in-progress game? In particular, an endless game.

What's this cheat I keep hearing?

Its not a cheat but a strategy that creates an endless loop for the enemies.
If you look at the pic a couple posts up you can see that there are 2 paths the enemies can follow but one is blocked off. So the strategy is to wait until the enemies are about to exit you (1) sell the blocking tower and (2) use a new tower to block off the current path. This will send the enemies all the way thru the maze again.

So you can see you still need a good defense against the helicopters.

I don't really consider this cheating because
1. It was an expected strategy in the original Desktop Tower Defense game.
2. You lose points everytime you sell a tower.

It is called infinite loop or juggling.
