I have
2x Hard disks ( 1 time machine, 1 extra storage )
1x dvd-burner
1x EyeTV hybrid HDT tuner
2x Serial Adapter ( connected to tty ports on servers )
1x keyboard, and
1x mouse always attached

and

1x Digital Camera
1x Video Camera
1x Phone, some times attached to my macbook.
the unpowerd hubs i got are not cutting it.

Can anyone suggest a high bandwidth USB hub, that provides full power to each port and maybe has multiple upstream ports???? Of course there is no BEST answer but i am open to ideas. I would like something perhaps with a metal case / commercial - industrial -- perhaps even rack mount design...

Answer to your prayers, but it's not cheap: http://usb.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=00560

You really should switch the hard drives and dvd burner to Firewire (or better FW800) if possible. You'll be happier with the performance boost you'll get with that than with any USB hub.

i do have a 320gb hard disk plugged into the only firewire port... But i never though about getting a Firewire hub... didnt even knew they existed... What would be the advantages of running all the HD's and DVD's on a firewire hub compared to USB???

firewire has much more bandwidth/throughput, will work very well for HD and anything that needs lots of bandwidth for a sustained period of time.
