Will USB 3.0 work on the new macbooks or is this something that has to be built into them..

Sorry if this is a dumb question, i seriously dont know the answer..:confused:

USB 3.0 is currently not on the Macbooks or any Apple product.

Edit: It is something that has to be built into them.

thats what i figured, thanks for the response..

I just saw a news article that said USB 3.0 is finalized up so i was just curious

This is taken from the article on Wikipedia about USB (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB#USB_3.0):


USB 3.0, which will be called USB SuperSpeed in commercial devices, is expected to be available in commercial controllers in the second half of 2009. Consumer products are expected to become available in 2010.


So it will probably be another year before we see USB 3.0 on Macs.
