Replacement for Paint Shop Pro X2 Ultimate

I am a two week old newbe and always have done my photo editing in Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 Ultimate for XP. Corel does not have a Mac version and I was wondering if Elements would allow me to do the same things.I would like to do Layers and Photo Shop plugins. Before I go out and purchase it I would like opinions.
