I bought it a few months ago. I tried out the pro version from *cough cough*, and liked it, so i paid for it. The features you get with the pro version are easily worth the charge :) Not quite so happy about having to pay again for the next version (QT6). Normally your key is valid for two generations of quicktime...

I've never bought Quicktime Pro...and probably won't ever...

I just don't have the need for it...yet ;)

I got QuickTime Pro with Final Cut Pro, so I think with the extra cash I had to shell out, I should get a free update!

I got the free upgrade to 4 Pro when it came out, and paid again for 5 Pro. I'm not about to pay for another Pro key! Yeah, I know, whine whine, b*tch b*tch, but what did I get out of QuickTime 4 and 5 Pro? Saving and editing movies. Woohoo. And that requires a pro key? $30 bucks a pop isn't cool.

I bought it because I found the extra features useful otherwise I would have just stuck with the free version.

i bought it because i always preferred it on my pc, but winbloze never handles it right, and i wanted to save, full screen, etc. That's not a bad price considering the crap brought forth by Real and Microshizz.

I got the free key for GT Pro back when I had version 3 I believe. It worked for version 4 and the early stages of 5 (not on OS X). I recently purchased the pro license for QT5 and hope that the key will work on version 6. If not, then $30 is not all that much for the added features you get.

Besides, if it helps Apple to keep the cost of the OS down, I will happily get the pro keys.

I've been using FCP since v1.0, so I've had QT Pro since. I've also bought QTPro for one of the PCs in the office, so I could cut and paste, and do minor edits on a PC once I had created everything with FCP. Its come in very handy every once in a while and worth the few bucks it costs.

From apples quicktime FAQ:
Will my QuickTime 5 Pro key work in the final release of QuickTime 6?

Because QuickTime 6 will include royalty-bearing technologies, a new QuickTime Pro key will be required to unlock pro functionality in the final release.

So you'll have to get a new key when that comes out. As you say though, if it helps with the cost of the OS.... :)

QT Pro is one of the best shareware apps out there.

The saving, editing, track enabling disabling features are all very useful. Plus you get to see the cool full-screen trailers on the Quicktime website. :)
