Iam thinking of purchasing a new 24inch imac in the new year, can the current 24inch imac with 8800 graphics card play direct x 10 games in windows vista on bootcamp, does anyone have any screenshots of this imac running games in vista like COD 4, bioshock and crysis.

A quick trip to the video card manufacturer's website will easily answer this question. Yes the 8800M GTS supports DirectX 10. There's not much of a reason to run games in DirectX 10 mode though.

I thought running it in x10 was better graphics, shading, lighting etc looked better in some screens I seen like PS3 and xbox, so if I run a game in boot camp what would be using open cl or directx?

Stick with DirectX 9 for now.

As long as you run it in Windows via BootCamp, it should work fine and work at the same speed as on a comparable native Windows machine. COD 4 is available for OSX btw.

DX9 is more usable at this point because it's been pretty much perfected...
DX10 needs to be optimized with better drivers, because while visuals are slightly upgraded, performance can take a huge hit. :apple:
