Need Help! How do I createSplit screen CNN debate style video

Hey everyone I need help, I am helping out at a friends school, and they want to do a debate with a cnn style / split screen to it. They also would like a crawler at the bottom. What is the best way to go about this.

I ahve at my disposal imovie 08, imovie HD, final cut, and adobe premier.

The split screen effect is pretty easy with FCP (and maybe express too? ) You just need to use the Basic 3d filter.

In Final Cut, place one clip on V1 and line up the other on V2 so they're in-sync with each other. Set the Canvas window to Image+Wireframe mode and highlight the clip on V2 in the Timeline. Using the wireframe in the Canvas, resize and position the clip however you want it. Do the same for the clip on V1.

If you want to add distort (angled) effect, use the Distort tool (d) on the Wireframe.

To add a crawl or 'ticker', use the Boris Title Crawl generator and add that clip to V3.
