Battery dead? Iphone 2g

Hey, today i got my Iphone 2g from another macuser forum. It has the normal wrong Firmwareupdate so i thought of buying it and restore the firmware.

But after the delivery today the iphone felt very cold and when i tried to turn it on, nothing happend. I tried to connect it to a Powermac, Powerbook and normal Pc but nothing happened. So i thought of doing a reset by pressing Home und Powerbutton, but still nothing happened. Even the connection to the computer while pressing the homebutton didn´t work.

I got a Charger from a friend. So i will try to charge the iphone overnight but i don´t think that this will work, because after a few hours of trying to recharge today, the iphone wasn´t even warm.

Do you have any other idea, what to do or is the iphone totally broken?

Nobody has an idea? Should i try a Iphone 3g wall charger?

Come on, i really need the phone und don´t want to take it to apple.

I assume you meant MacForum user.

Has this user mysteriously disappeared since completing the deal? If not, talk with him and make sure the phone was even functional when he/she sent it. If it was, your best bet would be to go to Apple and have them look at it. Can't understand why you wouldn't want to take it to 'em but they're the quickest solution to a defective phone.

He said, that he charged the iphone before sending it, so i thought of a low battery life after the delivery because of the temperature outside. I will get the money back in the next days and i will send the iphone back but it would be very nice if somebody has another idea to solve the problem, so maybe i could keep the Iphone.
