(Dead or Living)
The Funk Brothers; Jimi Hendrick’s “Are you Experienced?”

Alternatively, who do you predict will be there? Do you think Clinton will bring his sax and jam? Will Emanuel dance?

I'd enjoy seeing Bill playing his sax. Has anyone seen his latest gig (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0)?

I vow to become Obama's leading supporter if he gets the original Smiths back together to play, if only one song even, such as "How Soon is Now." Perhaps "The Queen is Dead" is somehow fitting for Bush's departure, although I can't quite come up with a witty literary nexus.

How about nobody? I'd love it if we could just have one public event that isn't accompanied by wretched pop stars and other such nonsense. It's politics, not a rock concert. Everything doesn't have to look like MTV.

Madonna, Janet Jackson and Brittany Spears! Booyah! Beat that. --And they should all be required to kiss on stage, and give us at least one guaranteed wardrobe malfunction.

Bingo. It would be great to watch the FOX talking heads explode over that.

Agreed. As far as I'm concerned, swear him in and let him get to work.

Hey guys,

Do you really think there is NOT going to be a big blow-out? Even if we hit a Depression rating, do you think there WON'T be a musical induction as part of the ritual involved? Granted, Robert Frost won't read an inauguration poem as he did at JFK's inauguration; maybe it will be Toni Morrison. But to think that "politics" is/could/should be separate from popular culture, to deny that pop culture (or culture in general) had/has no place in forming the public discourse that results in political action, seems to me to be a tad too disingenuous. Is it the type of music that is the problem? Or is it that you think there is no place for revelry in such a hallowed institution?

Bill Hicks,he'd probably say something sensible and disrupt the whole charade.
