Soundcards for the Mac??

Just wondering if you can buy anything for the Mac as far as soundcards are concerned?

Sound cards for Macs tend to be very high end now - such as the Apogee Symphony 64.

For lower end most people tend to use Firewire interfaces (such as the Apogee Duet or Ensemble), or for the cheap end of the market there are lots of USB devices by companies such as M-audio.

A few years ago I had a fairly cheap (but fairly good) M-audio PCI card, but it seems that with the move to PCI-X etc it's only the high end cards that have survived.

Audio interfaces do everything I would want from a sound card anyway.

there's lots of stuff out there for audio recording. there's also lots of stuff that works with Firewire that won't require a sound card, but if you really want a sound card device check out Mark of the Unicorn or some of the pro tools stuff. Depends on how much you want to drop. I personally like some of the firewire stuff, good options for budgets.
