Leftover RAM

PC2100 won't work with G3 iBooks.

it's probably worth about $20-30. probably not worth the trouble of selling.

find a 12" PB user with the stock 256 MB (and a free slot) or other non-power users of laptops with an open slot and give it to them?

my sister bought an IBM thinkpad recently. when we ordered, we made sure that it came with 1 SODIMM 256 MB RAM and a slot open. i gave her my 128 from my PB. she is a very modest computer user so 384 suited her just fine...

if this is an iBook, the first 128Mb is internal, and can't be swapped out like you think. That is why iBooks only go to 640MB max RAM, 512+128= 640.

i think the orig. poster is talking about the removable RAM that's in the slot and swapping it with a 512 MB...

Correction

The iBooks ship with 128 RAM hardwired to the motherboard, with an additional 128 RAM in the user accesible slot, so 256 total. Swap the 128 in the slot and replace with 512, equals 640...

I'd keep it. If you ever run into Kernel panics from bad RAM, you will at least have 128MB more then what you would if you had to remove the 512MB.

You can always put it on eBay.

Yeah, and it's only one third the cost of the ibook. The cost is coming down, tho. It was half the cost of the ibook a month or so ago. Maybe in another month or two, it'll drop below the $300 mark.
