Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Didn't they give it to Jimmy Carter as a proverbial slap in the face to Dubya? Not much has changed over the past year.

I was shocked at first, but this quote pretty much explains it:

Lundestad said thousands of people, including member of any national legislature or government and many university professors, have nomination rights, so being proposed for the prize is no distinction in itself.

It's ok, I'm a professor and voted for S. Hussein

It goes to show that the way people are nominated may not be as good as one thought/hoped...

No, I'm not really a professor and did not vote for SH

That's about as likely as Bush being given a Pulitzer prize for extemporaneous speech. Now, if they gave an award for biggest idiot in the multi-dimensional space-time continuum..... Well, there you go. He'd be the only nominee. Well, maybe him, Pauly Shore and DraKKK-STCH of Omicron 4.

That's FUNNY :). But let's hope he never gets to use it.

I think it was an independent MP in the Norwegian parliament that nominated Bush and Blair for their roles in 'liberating' the people of Iraq.

After all, Alfred Nobel himself invented dynamite, saying

"My dynamite will sooner lead to peace than a thousand world conventions. As soon as men will find that in one instant, whole armies can be utterly destroyed, they surely will abide by golden peace"

Or, as GWB would probably put it, "As soon as other countries find we can just storm in and whoop their asses without regard to international conventions, surely the world will be peaceful."

Gah.

Sitting leaders almost never get the prize. It is one of the unwritten rules.

Reminds me a bit of wag the dog though.

From the IMDB...
Stanley Motss: The President will be a hero. He brought peace.
Conrad 'Connie' Brean: But there was never a war.
Stanley Motss: All the greater accomplishment.
