I have DVD's of my wedding and I want to put them in iMovie and edit them how do I get them in a format so that I can edit them?

Mac the Ripper (http://www.mactheripper.org/) to Handbrake (http://handbrake.fr/) to one of iMovie's supported formats:
iMovie supports standard and high definition video, as well as the most popular formats, including DV, HDV, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and even AVCHD.

Wrong. You dont need MTR for non-commercial dvds, and handbrake will not encode to a good editing format.
What you really need is MPEG Streamclip. With this app, you can export your DVD to DV files, and iMovie will edit them perfectly.
