Austin's newest public company will be called Freescale Semiconductor.

That's what Motorola Inc. said late Friday in announcing the name for its Austin-based chip operations. The company is spinning the chip operations off as an independent company. The deal, which analysts expect to be worth $2 billion, will be Austin's biggest initial public offering by far.

"We've created a name that's intended to identify our team's dedication to agility, service and reliability," said Scott Anderson, who will be CEO of the new company.

The spinoff is expected to occur in April.

It looks like our G4's will be Freescale G4's, come this April...

Personally I'd almost expect to see an April 1st startup date.
