How would you get themes onto the iphone? I have heard winterboard but I have no idea if it's an app or if I have to manually install and modify it myself.

Install Winterboard off of Cydia, and then install themes from Cydia and apply through Winterboard, or SSH them directly into your /root/Library/Themes folder.

There is no lag at all since the update. SMS is way faster. Also, I dont have a custom keyboard - I noticed that all lag stopped when I stopped using a custom keyboard.
Most of these icons are custom made. Rectangles are folders.

-you can download blank icons from cydia so you can place all the actual icon anywhere you want on screen. blankicons are transparent.

If you look through Cydia packages you should be able to find tons of themes I have seen a star wars theme somewhere

The "Clear" weather background was the original wallpaper I found while browsing forums, then I added different weather conditions on top of that...

I am a little confused over how to apply the icons, I can ssh into my iphone ans put a custom folder of wallpaper, dock into /library/themes and then it shows up on winterboard

but how do the icons work? which directory location do they go into?

OK...epiphany! I just downloaded Cyberduck and learned a little SSH w/ the iPhone...now I know how to change everything myself....

It's just easier for me to take the screenshot on my phone, then use one of the apps that'll upload straight from the phone to Picasa or Flickr than to connect the phone to my PC, get the photo off my phone, and attach it.

With Disk Aid you don't have to SSH mumbo jumbo. Just connect via usb and explore your iPhone! :D

I downloaded that, and I had a previous version of that which worked fine, but this newer version is cooler, so I got this, and now my lock screen where the "Slide to Unlock" is, it only shows a picture of a lock, and I just tap there and it unlocks, I'd rather slide to unlock, how do I get that back?

EDIT: And I just noticed, the Date is repeated and is overlapping. I'll post a pic in a few.

For the overlapping date in the clock area -

NOTE: To make this work, you need to hide the lockscreen date*
*does not apply on weather/notifier version.

And place it into System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/DateFormats

Also, replace the UILCDBackground in the UIImages folder with this - http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/5043/uilcdbackgroundft2.png

Then edit the LockBackground.html, search for 'body {' and change the padding to 'padding: 40px 0 0 0;'

To get back the slide to unlock, I believe you need to remove both folders under the Bundles folder for this theme.

I'm sure it might be easier to accidentally unlock your phone with the tap to unlock feature but I prefer it to sliding my finger across.

Need to SSH into your phone and copy the Home Screen folder into the <root\Library\Themes folder.

As far as the Status Notifier, traverse the compressed file till you're deep into the data.tar.gz folder and extract the Application, Library & System folders. Copy those folders to the <root> of the iPhone file system.

Reboot your phone and you should see an icon for Status Notifier and Home Screen should show up in your Winterboard.

To get back the slide to unlock, I believe you need to remove both folders under the Bundles folder for this theme.

Well for some reason after installing "homescreen", the "slide to unlock" is replaced with "tap to unlock" which kinda sucks but is something I could deal with. Problem is "slide to u" is still present underneath (cut off by the right side of the screen).

I deselected everything else in Winterboard and it's still there. Any way to fix this or get rid of the tap thing completely?

You have to SSH it to your phone. Go to hackthatphone.com and look at the SSH tutorial. That site recommends using Fugu, but I use Cyberduck instead. For some reason, I was not able to delete folders when I used Fugu. I was able to with Cyberduck.

All his friend has done is make a Wallpaper.png and put a load of invisible icons over it with loadsa spacers so that the correct icon is over the correct part.... if he did it any other way then he is silly :P

I installed Winterboard, i opened it and saw like: User Lock Background etc. i even clicked on User Lock Background and then there was a little check mark next to it. Can i use winterboard to change my dock or if i use SSH to change does that mean i don't need winterboard to change my dock. Yep. I found icons and docks on the web. Then I SSH'd into the iPhone and found the files that I wanted to change. I renamed them and replaced as you stated in your question. Fairly simple.

You need to edit the following and push your temp more to the right...and since your city name is shorter than "Yorktown", you need to center the large weather icon by moving it more to the left.

To move the current temp over to the right add about 15px

padding-left:65px;
color:white

Thanks for the tips....I fiddled with that weather app for quite some time. It actually has moved around quite a bit and is different then the original screenshit. I have it as the city and temp, with the graphic below...then the forecast. I'll play with it some more tonight and do what you've suggested. I really like how you've got it layed out. My theme my signal bar (you should recognize the weather widget since your using it on your Cardinals theme you are creating, or did someone steal the widget and put it on Cydia as well?). You need to edit the following and push your temp more to the right...and since your city name is shorter than "Yorktown", you need to center the large weather icon by moving it more to the left.

To move the current temp over to the right add about 15px

Pretty basic. The dock is glass orb blue, and I put in a custom wallpaper, but otherwise normal. I wasn't planning on doing any theming until I saw the glass orb dock, just love it! :)

You have to insert blank icons.

If you can get your hands on a copy of "Transmit" that is what I would recommend if your using a MAC. I do not use Netatalk because you would have to have two Finder windows open and drag files back and forth. Transmit is awesome for doing this and it does it very well.

download the repo that i said above and once the blank apps are on your screen just move them around where you want them..hold down an app like you are going to move it and you will see where the blank apps are...basically they are just spaces they dont actually represent an app. and for cyberduck plug in ur iphone...open cyberduck and click open connection..set protocol to sftp..go to wifi on ur iphone and click the arrow to the right of the network that you are on and you will see the ip address..type that in the server blank in cyberduck and for the username use root and password use alpine..theres probably a link out there but thats how i do it.

SSH uses WiFi. You can also do it by creating an adhoc network on your MAC and connecting to it on your iPhone. Plugging in using USB keeps SSH on (won't go to sleep as it would if you didn't have it plugged in).

That means you deleted an app before removing it from stacks. Reinstall the app, remove it from stacks, then delete.

If you jailbreak, I would only install Cydia. Installer is pretty much useless. You will then need to download a program called Winterboard (from Cydia) and the themes/docks/slider etc that you want to use. Once downloaded, you open Winterboard to "turn it on."

Themes, you will need a computer to edit them..docks and icons being part of the themes.

This may sound like a dumb question but are you supposed to be able to click the icons in the widget bar? Such as the calculator and google search? I cannot if you are supposed to be able to.
