Hi,

I recently broke the screen on my old Macbook. I have tried to find a new screen, but I can only buy the complete unit that includes the backlight.

I've taken the Mac apart, and the backlight assembly is fine, all that needs replacing is the LCD glass panel. I cannot find anywhere that sells this part on its own.

This is an environmental issue and I'm sure Apple would agree with me. I don't want to buy a new mercury-filled backlight and then have to dispose the old one properly. Apple should encourage me to re-use the old backlight and just fit a new LCD panel.

Does anybody know where I can buy this part?

Regards,
Daniel

If you dispose of it properly, as you suggested, what seems to be the big deal? Are you looking to save money?
