I had my iphone unlocked so that I could use it with tmobile today and so I plugged it in and this update sign came up on itunes, saying it was some update for iphone that I needed to dl. Anyway, after I dl'd it, it said the sim card was not supported and completely reset it... i think its locked again. Something about only emergency calls. OMG I dont know what to do!
Someone help!

Reset your phone and unlock it again. It's not a problem just don't ever d/l another update again unless you know it will work with your unlocked phone.

Wrong. If you have an iphone 3g then you are screwed. The 2.2 firmware updates the baseband and makes 3rd party sim cards not work. And you won't be able to unlock it with the upcoming dev teams unlock program.
But if you have the 2g iphone then you are in luck and all you have to do is run the latest version of quickpwn.

Well considering if you had a 3G already unlocked updating it would not relock it because all unlocks at this point in time are legal through apple which is why when you update your phone from certain countries in Europe your phone remains unlocked.

Is it a first Gen or a iPhone 3G? What color is the back? Black or Silver and Black?

If you have a first gen then you are doing everything correctly if you have a 3G nothing will happen. Your sim will be fine no matter what.

But if it's a 3g your iphone will only work with att now. unlocking it won't likely happen with that baseband.

That is not true at all there isn't a different FW for every country. The unlock is behind the operating system much like the way that we are able to create our own custom FW with the PWNAGE tool.

I never said anything about there being a different firmware for each country. I simply assumed he was using the US T-Mobile, so if he has a 3G and updated to the 2.2 firmware it patches the hole in the baseband that could be used for the unlock. By updating it to 2.2 will keep it a strictly AT&T phone. Unless someone finds a way to unlock the new baseband.
