eXternal hard drive problem...

I'm trying to open my Itunes with my eXternal drive when i go to pref. and all but it doesnt show up there but it shows up on my desktop can i or can i not use the mp3s from the eXternal drive without uploading them into the main drive

create a link between iTunes and the folder on your external drive by going to iTunes preferences>Advanced>and in the box that says location of iTunes music folder, browse to your external hd and select your music folder.

I think that is what you are asking, but it is hard to tell what you mean without any punctuation in your post:confused:
