View Full Version : WC3 Keeps crashing

Hello. So, ive experienced some widelly known bugs that the mac warcraft3 version has. I can live with having to quit the game manually, i can live with having ot restart it whenever i get a message telling me that some other application is using the same port etc.... But geez, after some time of playing, it freezes up. Just like that, i dont even get a crash reporter window. Everytime it crashes it makes a new error file. What im curious though is something strange i noticed in console is that wc3 is constantly trying to access some .wav files it cant find, even when i have all sounds disabled... take a look at this:

the same message is being repeated amongst different lines, a lot times :confused:

Reinstalling Warcraft is generally the first step. Also, the error logs that Warcraft is producing, do they report the same error or different ones? Posting one or two of them may help as well.

thnx for your reply. In the console, i get this same line "WAVPlayer::SetWAVSourceImmediate:Failed to open [Abilities\Weapons\LordofFlameMissile\HeroFlameLordMissileImpact.wav]" many times, split into different parts amongst "xx/xx/xx xx:xx:xx xx [0x0-0x78078].com.blizzard.WarcraftIII[618]". Funny thing is that i rly dont think that any game i played that day had witch doctor in it. But it could just be the dota map preloading all of its components.. Still strange, and im not rly sure what causes it to finally crash. Heres the error file produced in the warcraft folder:

UPDATE: made some research about SIGBUS and "Nonexistent physical address" and i found out that its a problem caused when a program is trying to access a memory location thats its not allowed to... I wonder if this has something to do with the .wav file

Is this a problem that only happens when playing DotA maps? If it is, I'd head over here (http://forums.dota-allstars.com/) and post the question...

If not... I dunno... :confused:

I haven't had any crashing with my WC3 install, of course I don't have DotA installed either.

Im not rly sure because i play dota most of the time and i cant remember if it crashed on any other map or on single game. And im not going to post about that in the dota forums, im pretty sure they wont be able to help me there, they're just wc3 map scripters, most of them dont even know OSX exists... Also, dota is not something to have installed, its just a map like millions others. I guess im stuck :mad:

Yep DotA crashes on my end too. Seems to crash once every twenty rounds.

i am getting really annoyed with dota crashing. ill be playing and all of a sudden it goes to the waiting for host dialog box and i cmd+m and see my cpu is at 100%. eventually i get disconnected.

the most recent game i played where this happened did have a witch doctor in it and i found some similar error messages.

The file(s) it is trying to play just do not exist in the Mac or PC version of Warcraft. Normal ladder games can generate the error too.

As for the disconnections, there have been reports of extreme lag occurring with some hosts that are using Vista. I've only had one such game like this so I haven't been able to track anything down.

this is not a lag issue. i have experienced the issue with vista hosts and that is not what this is.

i will be playing perfectly fine and all of a sudden the waiting for host menu comes up. the last time i saw this happen i checked my cpu usage and warcraft 3 wasing using 100%. this doesnt seem to be "lag", rather a glitch with the warcraft 3 or dota that causes my game to freeze up and for me to desync from everyone else in the game.

just tried to reinstall and its totally broken now. i reinstalled warcraft 3 and tft, patched and when it went to relaunch it just told me "frozen throne cant be opened, sorry". gg.

edit: ok i installed from battle.net downloader and it works again.
