Warcraft 3 LAN help!

I'm trying to use hamachi to connect via LAN to play Warcraft 3 with friends. Hamachi is still at a very rudimentary stage, which requires Terminal work and etc. Is there another program besides Hamachi that I can use to connect with friends?

It might be simpler and time saving to host a private game on bnet. I have tried the hamachi thing and it didn't work.
