OMG now that is funny if Apple "denied" selling this episode, but with their heavy handed approach to iPhone application that they "don't like", it would not surprise me.

Unless im mistaken, the simpsons isnt even available on itunes....is it?

isn't called a ipod touch. not itouch.

I still struggle to understand why, but when people ask whether I have an iTouch (as they call it) or an iPhone, and I respond an iPod, they seem to get confused. Perhaps someone can clarify for me as to why this is. It is, after all, an iPod, and it should be pretty obvious by the size of its display that it's a Touch... do they think it's a Nano or something? People are confused so easily these days.

Coincidentally, a deal was apparently just made between Fox and Apple to bring the 20th season to the iTunes Store:

http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2008/12/the-simpsonsapp.html

After watching the Nov. 30 episode of The Simpsons, we can say this: Jobs well done. As in, the Fox comedy sure roasted Apple and its CEO, Steve Jobs. The irreverent parody of the computer giant (in which Lisa runs up a huge bill from Apple — excuse us, Mapple — by downloading too many songs to her iPod — ahem, myPod) tweaks the company’s culture of cool and even offers up a few Jobs jabs (“How dare us question the boss we fired 10 years ago and then brought back?” says one employee). Funnier still, there were multiple Apple ads during commercial breaks. Does Apple have a self-effacing sense of humor, or was it just coincidence? Looks like the latter: The company didn’t know about the satire, and Simpsons exec producer Al Jean wasn’t aware of the commercials’ placement beforehand. “The show has a tradition of biting the hand that feeds us, and sometimes it goes up to the elbow,” says Jean, an admitted “Apple enthusiast.” Let’s hope the main Mac man enjoyed the parody, as a deal was recently cut to bring the current season of Simpsons episodes to iTunes. Cracks Jean: “If he wants to give me an upgrade on my laptop in exchange for no more future mockings, so be it.”

Jean's quote about getting an upgrade is just typical, that guy annoys me.

I just watched it then and I think both are right...it's a 'myPod touch' with a....virtual clickwheel, proving that simpsons writers are apple fans, who may have also been obsessed with pre-touch virtual clickwheel theories. If you watch when Lisa shows them the Itchy and Scratchy clip she presses one of the corners and the clickwheel pops up into the top like a window going down into the dock etc.

Maybe it's because the iPod Classic resembles the 5.5G iPod (Video) more then the iPod Touch does. When using short-form of the current line up, iPod generally refers to iPod Classic, Nano refers to iPod Nano, and iTouch refers to iPod Touch.

iTouch only refers to iPod Touch when you have mental problems.

I will accept "Touch" but iTouch sounds like a porno spoofing Apple.

Besides, we never say iClassic, or iNano or iShuffle,

Drop the iPod or say the whole thing, stop with the iTouch bu!!*****.

Reminds me of my dad. I needed new headphones for my touch, and he was looking at those horrible lanyard headphones they used to make for the iPod nano. I told him they were for the wrong model anyway, and he goes "I thought the touch screen was a nano?". Then a few weeks ago I was looking at cases and every single time he'd look at the iPod classic ones because he then thought THAT was the 'proper' name of the iPod touch. To add to that, just seconds after I told him (for what must have been the fifth time within several minutes) it was an iPod touch an employee asks if we need help, so my dad butts in and says we're looking at cases, the employee asks "what type of iPod?" and he just stares at me, having totally forgotten in the ten seconds since I told him.
To add to that, when I asked the employee about iPod touch cases she went to another employee asking if "there were any new iTouch accessories in stock". iTouch? Seriously? From someone that works at a store specialising in nothing but Macs and iPods?

It is, after all, an iPod, and it should be pretty obvious by the size of its display that it's a Touch... do they think it's a Nano or something? People are confused so easily these days.

Because they don't see it as a member of the iPod lineup for some reason. They see it as it's own individual product, the iTouch. Even people who own once call it an iTouch. But if they looked at the back of the device it even says "iPod" on the back of it.

It's gonna suck working at the Apple Store next year and being asked about the iTouch. Would it be a bad idea to correct them?

I always use the same analogy:

You wouldn't call the iPod nano the iNano;
You wouldn't call the iPod classic the iClassic,
And no one calls the iPod shuffle the iShuffle,
Why call the iPod touch the iTouch?

Apple's naming syntax seems to be the cause for this. Where did the 'i' come from anyway?

It frustrates me when I even hear people who work at the Apple Store call the iPod touch the iTouch. I have to correct them whenever people say that.

Not that I support it ...

Why call the iPod touch the iTouch?

Most people (especially those new to the iPod line) see the iPod Touch as a dumbed down iPhone IMHO. If Apple had chosen to name the iPhone the iPod Phone  I'd think there'd be less of an issue with the Touch.

You don't want to correct customers; the customer is always right, remember? ;) Just refer to it as an 'iPod Touch' whenever you refer to it, and you should be fine.

The whole 'i' thing came about with the original iMac released in 1998. When Jobs released it, he claimed that it was an easy way to get on the internet. The 'i' was supposed to stand for 'internet,' as well as a slew of other words that I don't remember offhand.

Maybe Apple should come out with that tablet Mac and call it an iTouch, so people will be forced to call the iPod Touch an iPod Touch in order to make a distinction. :D

I thought it was ironic with the Apple ads after they showed that. :D Awesome timing, Apple, you've got a very clever marketing department.

But I agree, ever since early 2000 when FOX began writing the scripts for The Simpsons, the show itself has slewed so far downhill it's impossible to pull it back up. It went from a family show, to an anti-family show (comparing it to Family Guy, now that's irony).
