going into the Users spot on the Systems Preferences. check off someone as administrator. When it asks for a password, use the Name of the person, and password that was used to originally set up the computer. Hopefully the root user that set up the computer still works.

Try here: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53119&highlight=Admin

I too was editing a user in NetInfo and it removed "Admin status" from the only user on the machine. Fortunately some very knowledgeable people on these boards got me going in the right track and it is fixed :)

I hope this thread helps :)

How i did it:

Boot into single user mode, edit /etc/sudoers and added my short login name:

nik_doof ALL=(ALL) ... or whatever it was

Reboot, then use sudo nicl at the term level to append my username to /groups/admin users

Wolla, quite simple.

Oh yah, the Active Directory plugin for panther has a nasty tendancy to remove admin rights from users.
