Hi,
This is probablies going to be a strange question but here goes:
Is it possible to install Microsoft Server 2003 and SQL Server onto Mac server hardware?
Is the architecture totally different?
Or will it just install?
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks

You cannot install Microsoft Operating Systems on Mac hardware, period.

Now, you could use Virtual PC, but performance is likely to be poor.

Fortunately, there's no real need to install either.
Plenty of options that'll do the same thing under OS X.

ok then what about if I have a web based development that runs on Microsoft SQL server with Internet Information Services.
I dont want to have to do any sort of porting of the software.

You have to convert the Microsoft SQL DB to MySQL (I don't no ***** about SQL, sorry), Mac OS X has the Apache web server built right in. What language have you coded your pages in? This is the only possible problem, if it's .asp then it's tricky. I think you can get software to run asp on apache but it does not have the full functionality of asp on an IIS server.

Hi,
There actually is a good alternative for working with ASP pages on OS X / Apache, I've never used it as I've made the move over to PHP to make it easier to provide web applications on any platform.
Go to http://www.halcyonsoft.com/products.asp?s=1
The company is Stryon and the product is called iASP. It's supposed to be a lot better than ChilliSoft ASP, check the site out and see for yourself. Let us know how you get on with it if you do check it out.
Cheers,
Rick

I believe these guys have done some work to get asp to run on a Mac Server. Might want to read and check them out first.
