if i go to google.com in safari on my ipod, it automatically detects my ipod and directs me to google's iphone optimized site. if i click on the address bar at the top of safari and use the built in google search, it uses the standard google interface. I would like to set this to use the iphone optimized interface (www.google.com/m) to search if this is possible in some way....
is there a way iphone brothers and sisters? :)

Sorry I don't have the answer, but I was also thinking the
same thing.
It seems like apple missed the boat on this one, maybe in the next
firmware release?

As far as I know (and I've been annoyed by this and looking for a solution for a while now) you can't fix it.

I always wondered how MS got **** for shipping windows with IE but Apple can do it with Safari.
Even on the iphone you should be allowed multiple browsers, if available, and the ability to change the default search engine.
Not that i care at all, but I always wonder how they get away with it.

Because they were leveraging their market share monopoly, and effectively killing off competitors through anti-competitive behavior.
Because they punished OEMs (with higher licensing fees) who tried to change things around.
Because they made it artificially hard to remove IE from Windows.
And so forth and so on.

i don't mean to change the topic...................but the theme here is about google mobile and the iphone as a mobile browser and the connection between this mobile phone and mobile site.. :)
