I plan to get some Kingston RAM from Newegg, but I hear everything about Crucial RAM.

I just went through the same dilemma and everyone said something different. I went with crucial just because they told me exactly which RAM to get. I went on Newegg too and was able to pinpoint the RAM from them after... But, I gave my business to crucial for being so helpful! I don't think you can go wrong with either one but then again - I haven't bought RAM in about 7 years!
I went with OWC. It was cheaper and they use UPS. (usps wont deliver to my door)
I also read some things about shady pricing with Crucial as well as weak packaging for such delicate items.

Went With Crucial a year ago for my Intel Mini...
It has worked great, so I just bought 4gb for my MBP last night from them.
New Egg is reputable, but I'd be careful of what BRAND of ram you get from them. I've heard some "iffy" things about various "Cheap" ram, but Crucial seems to have a pretty strong standing and like I said, I personally have had no issues with my mac mini ram... (except for 2gb just not being enough for everything I'm throwing at it right now... thus it's being replaced with an imac... scooped up a refurb 24" 2.8ghz last night😀)

I've been buying Crucial memory for about 10 years. Never a problem of any kind. You do get a better price for some items if you're registered with them as a reseller. The last two items I got from them (4 gb kits for new MBP and for iMac) were well-packed.
I don't think you'll go wrong with RAM from any major manufacturer, but I see no reason to avoid Crucial. Certainly you should avoid no-name sticks.

I like how everyone is spouting off about how great Crucial is when the OP is asking if brand matters or not...
Kingston should be fine. They're a reputable company. Just avoid "generic" RAM, in other words anything that is extremely cheap. Newegg reviews are work well as guidelines.
