DV in/out camera?

Hi, can anyone recommend a good DV in/out camera? My initial use is for using an application called DV Backup:

I would have thought most DV cameras have both transfer in and out ability. Send it a DV signal while it's in VTR mode, and you should be able to see and record it.

As for the DV backup software, anyone know how reliable it is? DV tapes do suffer from occasional dropouts, so I'm not sure I would commit anything important to such a backup. Blank DVDs are dirt cheap and probably would be a lot less hassle. 2 or 3 DVD-R's store the same data as one miniDV tape would and I believe they would be much cheaper, more reliable, and faster (DV tapes are real-time, linear transfer).
