Well, I guess I'm out of a job.
I work at *the best* apple reseller in Ontario... in Oakville (30 mins from Toronto). If those big stores go up, We're pretty much screwed.
But I guess it's good for everyone else.

I'd be happy to see montreal's main reseller, B. Mac, eat the dirt. Everybody complains about the service from those snobs. we've dealt with a few nice guys for repairs, but the service has mostly been pretty bad. My bro's friend threatened to drop his purchase of a g5 from them if he didn't get treated like a decent person, so they hooked him up with a sweet monitor or something. i try to buy all my mac stuff through mcgill now, especially since students get sweet discounts.
But a real mac store with a prominent location downtown would be nice, give more street cred to the computers. How bout the old Sam the Record Man building, on st catherine right across from the future shop (hehe, another mac reseller, although they never advertise it). I know that place is falling apart, but i've got so many good memories of that place...

Anyone knows what was the effect of the Apple Stores on Apple resellers in the US?
Apple store at the Old Sam the record man' place? Hmmm... not sure if it is Prime Real Estate. That part of Ste-Catherine street looks like a dump and it only gets worst the more you drive east. The alleys are full of trash and it would be hard to get a decent picture of the store facade without having a peep show parlor in the frame ^_^ It would be right next to B.Mac downtown too.

you are so right... but i think b. mac's gonna have to move soon with that st james church being dug out from behind those stores... that'll make that area a little less crummy. besides, i want b. mac to go out of business. i'm sure any of the nice employees would be able to get jobs at the apple store. Otherwise, that san francisco store just went out of business, way out west along st catherine, closer to like drummund or something, that'd be a pretty swanky spot.

Thanks.
I work out of Cambridge. The closest dealer is in Waterloo and they are pretty useless. There are lots of folks downtown Toronto, but if I'm not already going there for something, that's a pain in the butt.
What cross street are you close to?

Yeah, decent apple resellers are few and far between here in Ontario. We actually get people from Toronto to come to us. That shows you something.
We're right off the QEW. Turn south on Dorval, turn right on Speers Road. We're at 414 Speers.
email me for further info!

Well I'm American so I get it.
Thats the beauty of living within 2 hours of the Canadian Border, we get CBC. I just wish we also got some of the following Canadian Channels:
CTV
Global
Prime
CH
CityTV
YTV
Space:
and
Toon
It would make my life a bit more fun.
And considering the crap that Rick Mercer can convince Americans of about Canada, I doubt many will understand the Mike bit.
Four more places there should be Apple Stores...
Banff, AB
Jasper, AB
Kamloops BC
Prince Rupert, BC

I think Apple should strategically place more than one Apple store. Toronto is a good place to start simply because of its size - the Yorkdale store would be best as it sits right off the 401 - which is between the 404 and the 400. Accessiblilty to surrounding cities would be the best.
And yeah, there should be one in Vancouver, one at the Rideau Centre in Ottawa, and in Montreal, and even one in the Maritimes - preferably in St. John NB... and yeah, maybe Apple should put a store in RI, USA as well.
The drive to put one in Toronto would also be choice considering Apple Canada's HQ is in Markham - which is just up the 404.
It'd be nice to go to the Apple store so my PB could be fixed without having to hassle one of the few (on a certain campus in Toronto, the two in Barrie, and one particular 'Warehouse' style store based in Toronto) "Authorized Resellers" I've dealt with... the ones I've dealt with are bloody horrible - pushing me to just use Apple's online/phone resources for ordering, etc.
That's my 2 Canadian ¢ on the issue.
