I'm getting my father an iPhone for Xmas and want to
preload some apps on the phone for him. He's a huge
golfer, any suggestions for the best apps?
Any other must haves I should preload?
Thanks for any advice.
Happy Holidays! :)

GL Golf is my favorite golf game in the App Store. Also you could put vcaddy on there which has preloaded courses and uses the phones gps to give you yardage to the hole. I've never used vcaddy so I'm not sure how well it works but you can read the reviews on iTunes.

I haven' tried Ernie Els so I couldn't comment to that other than that it hasn't gotten very good reviews and the graphics look pretty bad. GL Golf is great, though. I play it all the time. If you want to try it first there is a free lite version.

I've tried both and the graphics in Ernie Els in far superior to GL. For example, GL has one tree type (pine) and very parsley scattered. Els has bushes, trees and shrubs making it a little more realistic scenery. The water in GL is horrible and does not blend with the landscape as opposed to Els. If your looking to just bat the ball around and don't care about the graphics, get GL. If your looking for a more involved game with better graphics, then get Erinie Els.

Won't be long until EA Sports ports Tiger Woods 09 onto the iPhone (probably won't be till February if they ever do).
Just a wee idea if he has a birthday around then ;)

If he wants to keep score while out on the golf course, teeshot is the app for him.
