pros and cons of jailbreaking my 3G iphone

I haven't done it yet, but as I was reading some of the things that you're able to do after the JB make it sound good..

after reading some topics on this forum however, it seems that it can become a problem for some people..

what are the major changes that come after the JB?

and if I'm able to restore the settings and it won't void my warranty (after the restore option) is there really any reason why I shouldn't do it?

Check out the guides at the top of this forum, back up your phone in itunes, and give it a shot. I've performed and reversed the process at least a dozen times and never had any major problems. If you get stuck you can always come back to this place for help.....

I chose to jailbreak for one big reason: landscape SMS.

There are lots of other great reasons to do so, but if Apple had built in landscape SMS, I probably never would have bothered.

Nope. Not true. Many users have revirginized their phones and gotten warrantied work done.

Even if it was true, IMO if I had to void my warranty forever to get the advantages of JB I'd still do it.

Luckily we don't have to worry about that. :D

my 2g is out of warranty now so that is why i recently did it. Once you get it right ie no phone or edge/3G problems, you can build your own theme and make your iPhone more useful, fun, and more you

just got my iPhone replaced today
it was jailbroken, and then the back cracked
i restored it, took it into apple, and they handed me a new phone, no questions asked

if you do do this, download aptbackup from cydia and run it, then back up your iPhone to iTunes, then restore

that way all your cydia apps and settings will be reinstalled if you just add aptbackup again
