basic interface

I am needing information on finding a basic interface to connect 1/4 inch to usb. Is there an adapter which can do this without buying a preamp box? I already have a board which I like to do my mixing and controls with so a preamp box is unecessary. Just really need a way to input through the usb. any info is appreciated.
