I just burned an .dmg file to a double layer DVD using Disk Utility. The very computer I just burned it on won't read it, and says "you have inserted a blank DVD"

However, an iBook G4 I happen to have handy reads it just fine. What the???

The only thing I can think of that is even worth mentioning is that the disk image is only like 1 GB, while it has been burnt on a double layer DVD.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure how applicable this is: taken from http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/6733.html

If you burn your project to a double-layer disc, you should burn directly from iDVD rather than from a disc image. A disc-burning utility doesn’t set the layer break according to iDVD specifications and may cause playback issues.

I'm thinking that any dmg burned to dual layer through Disk Utility could run into this, not just projects from iDVD if that is what you're trying to do.

It's not a movie, it's data. Can iDVD do this?

And how does that explain it working in the iBook but not the iMac?
