I have been using 3.X and tonight it said there was an update. So I downloaded it and when Windows re-started, it installed the new version of parallels tools.

Once that happened, Parallels would no longer work correctly. It would not boot the virtual machine-it said something like a driver was missing try again or reinstall parallels.

I have a bootcamp partition. So I uninstalled parallels desktop, but when I boot to windows in bootcamp, I can not uninstall the parallels tools. Windows says I must be running the virtual machine to uninstall.

Any suggestions?

Any ideas for this very frustrated parallels user?

I suggest posting your problem on the Parallels Forum at: http://forum.parallels.com/

Once there you'll find that you're not alone in being frustrated with Parallels. I had had a problem with an update on my Parallels 3 and posted it on their forum. I got an answer very quickly. My problem was that the update didn't "mount" so it didn't install. Lucky for me because the update seems to have its own list of issues. I've decided not to do Parallels updates anymore. Macmonter is right, if you go to the Parallels support forums, the tech support should be able to help you. You will find other people there that have software issues... because it's a tech support forum :p

There are other options as well. If you look on the Parallels Desktop Support (http://www.parallels.com/support/desktop/) page, you'll find links to the knowledge database and e-mail support, which has been turning responses within 24 hours of customers submitting problems.

There is also phone support available free to Parallels Desktop 4.0 for Mac users that you can find on that page.
