G3 FireWire mode Issues

I have a problem with my G3 not responding to me hitting the T key to get it to go into firewire mode, does anyone know if there is a known issue with this model. It's one of the first G3s that came out.

are you holding down the T the whole time during the reboot. And it is already hooked upto another Mac already that is firewire compatable. I'm just guessing that you are new to this due to your Feb 2004 sign up to this forum.

Yeah I am a bit new to this, but I have already went through this procedure with several other macs and had it work. I was just wondering if apple changed the button to "T" recently such that older macs would have a different magic key.
