hello,
i have just succefully got hotmail on my new ipod touch 2G...
what you do is you pretty much just forward hotmail to gmail/yahoo/anything else.
Forwarding from hotmail:
step 1. make a gmail account
step 2. go to izymail.com
step 3. register your hotmail account on izymail.com
step 4. in the control panel you can scroll down to forward eMail
step 5. set up to forward your hotmail to your new gmail using izymail
step 6. set up gmail on your ipod touch 2G

and now you are done! but did you want to still use hotmail... no problem!

Forwarding back to hotmail:
step 1. make another hotmail account
step 2. go back to gmail and select settings>forwarding
step 3. type in your new hotmail account and select to keep emails in gmail

and now you have completed everything. thankyou for reading and feel free to email me if you have any questions, or you can test your ipod touch email feature by emailing me for fun. well have fun with it and remember your emails to people will be from gmail... i cant fix that part sorry 😛.
btw my eMail is: sonymods@hotmail.com

So if I get any mail it will go to my gmail acct.??

Will still also show up in live.com acct??

yes all the mail will go to your gmail account.
and because you are using izymail to forward the email, all emails will stay for 1 day. unless you pay the izymail subscription.
the only free way to get hotmail on your ipod touch is to follow my above instructions. (well unless somebody else finds a way to do it) my instructions are what i did after having an ipod for a week. and ill probably just stick with them, i dont feel like finding a better way then this 😀

Yes, you pay for mobileme, but i find it worth the price. Then again, thats just my personal opinion, so dont base it off of what i say

So you guys are annoyed about having to pay for MobileMe but not annoyed about having to pay for services Hotmail should provide for free - like IMAP and message forwarding?

Hotmail is freaking terrible. GMail is free and works perfectly - sure it doesn't have push but I don't see Google holding off on that for too long.

You can get your msn/hotmail (if its a paid account) via pop3. Check out apple forums for info. Its free. I did it.

i think so. i am not satisfied with $99/yr of mobileme. and for me, pop3 is even enough to check hotmail e-mails everyday.

🙄

Not to mention, Gmail has SMS texting, video chat, im chat, themes, etc. What does Hotmail carry other than the horrid MS logo? Nothing. It's so outdated and featureless compared to other email service providers out there. Make the switch! 😛

i have always wanted to use my hotmail accounts on my mac...
oh well at least i get to see the nice and attractive mailbrowser! 😀
