Hi,
I have a ibook 14" 3rd gen i think (is a couple of years old).

I'm getting annoyed with my desktop constantly getting cluttered with files from downloads etc. Please can anyone tell me how I can change the default save to somewhere other than my desktop?

Changing it to documents folder would be better.

Any advice appreciated. :-)

Thanks

Safari, Preferences, General, and change the standard download place.

Once these files from downloads etc are defaulted to your Desktop, you can move them to the place that they belong (i.e. Movies, Pictures, Documents, Music, etc). It's kind of like you've emptied the groceries out of you car and onto your kitchen counter...now it's time to put them away.
For instance, if you changed the default to a different folder than Desktop, like Documents, then it will become cluttered too. I use a folder called Downloads for my downloads and I keep it empty by deleting them or filing them. -GDF
