formatting HD

i am a former winblows user, just picked up a 15" PB.....how do you reformat the HD in the Mac OSX?

Boot from the install disk (hold down the c key when you startup to boot from a CD/DVD), open disk utility, select the disk, click the Erase tab, and set your options. Or at least something similar to that.
