Redlight from Macbook Audio port

My speaker doesn't seem to be working anymore and I get this red light from the audio port. Is there a fix for this?
 
That means that the computer thinks there's a jack plugged into your audio port. I've heard about people using a headphone jack and plugging and unplugging it into the port until the light goes off.
 
That's your jack in "optical" audio mode. There is a small switch inside the jack that needs to be pushed with a pin or something.

But before you do this, try plugging and unplugging a normal plug.
