Can I use any LCD monitor with a USB hub and the new MacBook? I know this is possible with Apple's new 24" LCD but the price is too high for me. Will the same USB connection work on a non APPle monitor? I would like to leave a keyboard and hard drive plugged into the monitor.

Sure, you'll just connect the USB cable to your MacBook like any other hub.
