I only have a friend's old mac.com email address-- is it automatically forwarded to whatever his me.com address is if he decided to continue with mobile me?

Or were all username123@mac.com addresses automatically changed to username123@me.com?

You can send it to either one. They are tied together, and will both go to the same place.
