I was wondering if I can install games, such as the Orange Box, on an external hard drive, with the Boot Camp partition on my internal.
is there any way to install Windows games on an NTFS or FAT32 partition of an otherwise HFS+ formatted external drive and run the game off the external?

If you repartition the Hard Drive so that you have both NTFS and HFS+ partitions you could then install the game on the NTFS partition.
When installing the game should ask you were to install it then go ahead and select a new location making it on the external instead.

This is what I'm using now. My iMacs HDD is only 160gb, with XP having 30gb of that. Once all my work apps are installed and docs are over it has 15gb free but I keep all my games on an external drive. Steam can run games off anything. They don't need reinstalling, so if you buy an external drive and just copy your Steam folder over (or just download Steam) and run it, it will set itself up.
Just make sure you get a big enough drive, I bought a 60gb one thinking it'd be more than enough about a year ago. Yerrite :D

is there any way I can add an NTFS partition without erasing the drive? I use it for time machine and other storage...
I know boot camp essentially does this as it makes an NTFS partition, but is there any way I can just create an NTFS partition on the etxernal without destroying the current partitions (and not paying for software)?
