Is there any way to get a higher refresh rate than 80Hz for a 1152 X 864 screen resolution on an eMac? This little flickering is driving me crazy.

I used to have mine at 1024x768 because of the flickering on larger resolutions. But I wanted something bigger, and once I started using 1152x864, I got used to the flickering. I don't think there is a way to increase the referesh rate, but there's a good chance you'll get used to it.

PAL TV's (the Australian standard) refresh @ 50Hz, and they don't flicker. There are few among us who coul dnotice a flicker @32Hz (~FPS of most motion pictures, VHS, and TV.) If your monitor is flickering it means there is an issue with it and I would take it back.

P.S: My screen runs @ 50Hz, and is sold as a rock, no fliker.

modern crt's are odd. you need to be up around 85-90Hz to see no flicker yet 60Hz shows none also. I have a viewsonic P95f+B (best 19" crt they make and has apeture grill) and run it @ 1920x1440/60Hz. it looks amazingliy vivid and unflickered at this res. plus all the extra room is great. osx really allows this high of a res since it is a very big/blocky os. I find that with x I use 1 or 2 res settings higher than I did in os9 or older.

any crt should be able to do 60Hz at any res that it does so use 60.
