I've been going through a divorce (wife cheated on me) and I'm back on square one and starting over! But, this time I do everything my way, which I'm fine with. Here is my living room so far, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

OP: A large floor plant and a large colorful canvas/print on the wall behind the sofa would do wonders for warming up your space. Now that you're starting over by choosing your own tastes, you may even consider painting your own canvas.

If you're not terribly artistic, a geometrical pattern with some bold colors could be cool. Good luck. :)

Whats interesting is your room looks like Kanye West's Love Lockdown music video - also having to do with broken hearts. Is the white a theme, I wonder?

To O.P.

To create a little more warmth I say take the goldish/beige tone out of the beautiful artwork you have there and use it as an accent color. Get a throw pillow or blanket. Anything to break up the stark modern coldness. It's beautiful, but like it was stated, modern doesnt have to mean cold.

Throw some more of that beautiful artwork up there behind the couch.

I think the use of the term 'minimalism', when used to describe one's choice of furniture, was first used by boring people who wanted to make it seem like their boring choice of furnishings were intentional rather than as simply a result of one's boring personality. Dress it up with a fancy, pretentious term, and you're considered 'design savvy'.

The term 'minimalism' may also be used by someone who doesn't want to tell others that they were simply "too po" to buy more than a single chair, a rug, and a 12-pack of toilet paper that serve triple-duty as tissues, napkins, and paper towels to clean up messes in the kitchen.

I can fell you mate. I hope you continue doing your way, and just listen to yourself. It starts with and it ends with you.

since now, it's the best set yet. Maybe because "minimalism" and a reduction to the things we need, is the goal. No pinky-stily unnecessary stuff. Black and white, nice.

But Mate. What about a TV-Set, PS3, etc. Where would you put it? Make more photos (at least 3) and show uns more. Great!

Or maybe the Ottomans... The Turkish as such are a relatively young nation.

To the OP:

I'm sorry about your divorce and the wife cheating on you. You need some warmth and a bit of colour in that room. I find that some 'classic' modern furniture (try Barcelona chair with red leather or the Eames lounge chair with rosewood veneer, white leather) has colour options and leather or rich textile (and of course quality prints, movie posters or paintings) dress up the room nicely.

Yeah, it works very nicely... The trick to making a setup like that work (at least for me) was finding a good way to hide the power cable, hence the rug ;-). Visible cables drive me nuts!

The location works great, because the TV can be turned to face the table, so if we're playing a card or board game we can put something on in the background.

I don't think it would look so great if it didn't have the room divider no the ceiling though. It has more of an impact on the effect than you might think. But I agree, it looks good.

Agreed -- while the beam across the ceiling is a relatively subtle feature in person, it does have the (almost subconscious) effect of dividing the room, making it feel almost like the TV is backed up against an invisible wall.

**Notes: What I'm trying to figure out is, 1) I have my own mount so I won't need the optional one, but is it my responsibilty to drill holes in it just as it was my own home's wall? and 2) it does hide the cords right? I hope there is a hole for cable management, other than that... I love it.

I'm about to make my decision soon, still haven't gotten ^ that entertainment center yet. I have fallen in love with the style of this one (http://www.csnstores.com/Nexera-450404-450405-450406-QB1554.html) but I just don't think I can bite because it's made from particle board. Has anyone seen the same design with SOME kind of better build quality? I've seen a few solid wood designs online but they run 3-5k and I want to stay under $1500. I know I definitely want the "wall" design to mount my 52 LED to...

I have literally been looking non stop since my last post and cannot decide what to do.

The general idea of the living room cannot be in fully white color arrangements because it will be dusty whether we clean it or rinse it and make us cause little bit trouble.Colored furniture and its possible good appliances can make room appear beautiful and attractive.

I suggest you to visualize the room that you want to paint before you even begin to prepare the area.Remember that dark colors tend to shrink a room way down. For the best results, choose a color palate that is soft and isn't overly dark or bright.

I doubt that'll be a problem, look at the size of that sofa it's hyoooge!

For some reason whenever I see sofas like that I think the owners are kinky. Why is that? :\

I've been going through a divorce (wife cheated on me) and I'm back on square one and starting over! But, this time I do everything my way, which I'm fine with. Here is my living room so far, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Post pictures of wife please.

I know it's not the cleanest picture stitch-up in the world, but this is my family's living room ^^ Maybe I could do the whole "living in Japan" thing with my space saving skills hehe :)
