Can I update my Apple TV after it has been hacked?

I have an apple TV hacked using the USB bootdisk running SSH and ATV Files and Boxee. Currently its running 2.1 and I would like to update it to 2.3

If I update my AppleTV Software will I lose everything or maybe get my AppleTV broken. Or is it completely safe for me to update!

do the update, get the new boot loader and re-install boxee.

Just curious, are you gaining any benefits by updating the boot loader? I just got my :apple:Tv a couple weeks ago, and just got boxee setup on it. Are there any advantages of 2.3 over the 2.1 I am currently running?
