Problems with Windows Vista and the new Macbook pro

Hey, I recently bought the new macbook pro, with pretty much the best possible hardware, 2.8 ghz processor and 4gb ram etc. I had them install the 32bit Windows Vista home edition on dualboot. The problem is when using windows vista, the OS just randomly tilts the computer, a few times a day, so I have to restart the computer to use it again. The laptop also (in my opinion, not sure tho) heats up to unusually hot temperature. Has anyone had similar experiences, any way to fix it?

How does it overheat your computer unusually? Can you tell me how hot it is? (temperature wise)?

It might be because when MBP is in Windows mode, it disables the 9400M completely and moves wholey into 9600M. That might be the reason why.

Windows Vista runs great on my 2.4 ally MB....fast as could be with no problems so far....

i've got the same problem.
the system under windows x64 is completely unstable. It crashes all the time, doing anything remotely GPU active.

Can't really tell, but there seems to be a connection with the overheating and crashing, a thing that I noticed (possibly) to help a little is keeping something under the laptop in one corner, so the air kind of can move under it, and the heat can circulate better. I'm sorry if I'm explaining this bad english is my third language.

Anyways I tried searching online, someone said avast! caused some problems which I was using so I removed it, and tried updating my NVIDIA laptop driver, but didn't help. What do you mean disables the 9400M and moves into 9600M?

ps. think I'm gonna take it to the store to see if something can be fixed tomorrow

i've got the same problem.

If you are gaming or doing anything intensive in windows I recommend smc fan control (in osx) to set your fan speeds to 6000, restart into windows and it will keep the same speed. Also uninstall the bootcamp nvidia driver and either use the newer nvidia driver from their website or www.laptopvideo2go.com newest driver with the modified inf file.

I'm running vista ultimate 64 and the only issues I have are that the trackpad is hokey (new driver screws up dreamscenes and doesn't seem to do much), and the audio get cracky at random time.

Aside from those two items it's stable and running fine.

Yatman- I just bought the new MBP (2.4Ghz, 2GB RAM) and was planning to install Vista on it to run a bunch of Adobe apps. I'm just not sure if there'll be enough benefit to running 64-bit on a machine that currently only has 2GB of RAM and maxes out at 4GB. Is it worth going 64-bit, and/or would I need to get an additional 2GB of RAM to even see the benefits of running 64-bit?

Any advice?

You can install Vista 64bit, but finding drivers for your MBP will be double as hard as it already is! and not all applications work fully on 64bit Vista, including some of my favourite games =( plus theres no need as its only really useful over 4GB of RAM, but i guess its up to you, i use 64BIT XP as its a slimmer O/S and much cheaper. Also since i only have Windows on my MBP to play games i want something slim running in the background so i can enjoy games to their full, a lot of resource intenstive games will struggle to run on vista with only 2GB of RAM.

See, this is the crux of the matter, and I haven't been able to get a clear answer to it. Would a 64-bit OS take better advantage of RAM, even if the ceiling on available RAM would be only 4GB?
