hey guys.

I don't own anything from Apple (except an Ipod) but am really on verge of getting a 15" Albook.

Does the current iteration of Apple DVD player support output of DD/DTS to an external decoder?

if not, does anyone know why? It should, seeing how 5.1 sound goes hand-in-hand with dvds.

thanks.
Daniel

Yes, but only if your Mac has appropriate hardware. On a G5 tower it is supported (through the optical audio out port). On an Al 15" it is not supported (the options are greyed out) as there is no port to send the data down.

sure, obviously, but I ment if you had a soundcard with ac3 out.

I was asking because I remember reading somewhere that the Apple DVD player did not support ac3 output, and that you had to use something called VLC.

Just wanted to confirm.

so it DOES support it, right?
