Anyone know what happened to the Bank of America app that was in the app store before?? I'm new to the whole app store thing, so...when apps disappear like that, is it usually temporary?

Not sure what happened to it, but I've just clicked on the + and add to homescreen and it works like a charm...

Well Bank of America just acquired a bunch of other banks recently so they may re-release it with the new names in it as options for those customers. I believe it was Merryl Lynch, Countrywide, and a couple of others.

Hmmm. It should be back though, although I don't exactly know when it disappeared. Very functional app though - I use it a lot.

The Bank of America app is a hack job anyway, all it is basically just a webclip icon to their mobile banking site, which is a stinking pile of crap and a pain to use. Like how many clicks does it take just to see your checking account balance? Click here to enter mobile banking, click this, click that...

I like the safari version better because you can view it in landscape. The BOFA app cant.

Totally agree -- the BofA app is a stinking pile. I love how in all the screenshots they show the 5% of the experience that is actually iPhone-like. The actual banking portion of the app is displayed in hideous Times New Roman and requires a crapload of zooming and scrolling even to login. Dreadful.
Awhile back I mocked up a replacement interface for it:

Doesn't look like they took my advice yet. ;)

It may look like a hack job, but it does exactly what I want it to do and it does it flawlessly.

If your looking for an app that will tell you how much is in your banking accounts and credit cards debts, then get Mint. I just started using it two weeks ago and its amazing. Its basically a read only website/app that you can link your credit cards, bank accounts, investments too and see what where you've spent. The best part is the read only part so nobody can get ahold of your phone and move money or anything. I highly recommend it.

While I agree Mint looks good, I cannot help but be weary of actually letting some 3rd party app access any account.
The BofA app is a joke.

How about fee's being charged for viewing your account more then 3 x's per month on line, transfering from your saving to checking fee's, no banking or atm facilities at my current location so they charge for every none bank of america usage....in other words they are loading up on fee's fee's fee's and more fee's just to use their goddam bank. Its my friggin money and if I want to check my own account online then I shouldnt be friggin charged for it. If I want to transfer money back and forth to my own accounts within BoA then I shouldn't be charged for it. I am done with them...they have gotten to big for their britches and now because of the world crisis...they are charging more and more and interest rates have gone up for their credit cards. All I can say is good luck and hope you like supporting the rich getting richer...I don't so I am gone...account closed, app deleted PERMANENTLY!

I don't get charged fees (direct deposit eliminates them), I can view my account unlimited times online (every account includes that, despite your claim), and I have countless BoA ATM's in my area including one about a mile down the road.
I haven't paid a single fee with BoA in 7 years of having an account there.

Yeah, not about to give all my financial info to some 3rd party I've never heard of.

Agreed. I've never been charged any of those fees listed above. BoA is great, but their app is no better than the mobile site, so I just use that.

what is the benefit of having the app rather than just the web?

True. I have never heard of those fees. The only fee I used to pay was having less than 300 dollars in my savings account. Plus with BoA you don't have to worry about them closing their doors or being bought out.
